The Position

Sustainability Officer H/F

Job Summary

Context : Imerys has been publishing Sustainability information in its universal registration document (URD) since 2003. In order to comply with the regulation, especially the European Corporate Sustainability Directive (CSRD), Imerys commissioned third party companies to perform a verification exercise for each fiscal year from 2024. The verification process includes on-sites and remote audits and the validation of the KPIs consolidated at Group level and integrated in the URD. An important preparation phase is required during the year to allow a smooth closing of the annual verification process.

As part of the company's extra-financial performance reporting obligation, especially with the implementation of indicators linked to the CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive), the sustainability officer is in charge of the coordination of the reporting, internal control and audit of  the environmental, social and governance annual reporting.

JOB SCOPE/DIMENSIONS :

Scope:  All business areas and functions within Imerys, covering a presence in 42 countries with approximately 200 plants and nearly 14,000 employees. 

Nature of customers :  mainly internal customers (within the BAs and within the Group functions) and some external stakeholders (auditors etc.)

Interfaces: Corporate Sustainability team, Legal, HR, Purchasing, Mining & Resource Planning, Health & Safety

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

1. Coordination of the extra-financial audits : monitor the relationship with the Statutory Auditors and coordinate the audits: preparation, monitoring of schedules, compliance with legal obligations, provide support to internal teams during the verification phase, coordinate and organize site audits and end-of-year consolidation, coordinate the auditor’s questions and qualitative interviews during the CSRD exercise in order to obtain the limited assurance provided by the auditors

2. Annual consolidation and reporting : support the reporting processes / schedule / contributors and coordinate the end-of-year data collection, verify the data quality and accuracy through exchanges with Data owners to challenge and validate the data reported, participate in the elaboration and writing of the sustainability statement.

3. Internal control : assist the function in enhancing the internal control environment related to the function's operations, by coordinating the internal control referential, facilitating its communication and understanding, and assessing compliance,  with the ultimate goal of improving management of risks (compliance with applicable laws & regulations, safeguarding of Group assets…) related to the operations and driving greater efficiencies for the Group

OTHER IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS :

Work in collaboration with the Corporate communication team to ensure Sustainability related communication is cascaded internally and externally.

PROFILE :

A +3/+5 years experienced Engineering or scientific manager (Bac +4/5 level) majoring in one of the following areas : environmental management, environmental engineering, geology, geography or/and additional studies related to sustainable development.

A strong experience in extra-financial audit coordination and project management is expected.

An experience in communication and management will be highly appreciated

-  High interest and general knowledge of sustainability international and French/European reporting standards international Environment, social and governance framework agreements

-  Excellent data analysis and organizational skills

-  Advanced IT skills Big and Smart DATA management, dashboard creation and process automatization

-  Very strong interpersonal and communication skills
